May 16th, 2008
Welcome 100+ degree weather! We so missed having sweaty armpits, swamp arse and having to shave our legs every day. We also want to thank you for bringing to our attention just how awful we look in a miniskirt; because of you, dearest "oh it's a dry heat," we've cut out the pizza, the peanut M&Ms and all things heavenly like cheese enchiladas and are boot-camping our jiggle back into shape. All this work and sacrifice just so we can dress weather-appropriate!
Gone is the tautness of our 24-year-old self; she’s been replaced with a she-version of Jabba the Hutt, complete with spider veins and cottage cheese. So we thank you, fabulous weather, as we consider the cosmetic powers of self-tanner and stare at our sausage legs in a pair of shorts. GAADS! |

Garage Sale
So our little bella is only months away from turning the big two. Already she’s mastered walking in five-inch heels, picks her own outfits and pairs our jewelry pieces like a true couture-wearing tot. Did we also mention that her closet boasts more labels then ours? Thanks to our jet-setting friends she’s been clothed by Marc, D&G and Paulina Quintana and has, to no surprise, become a clothes horse like her mother.
We’re not complaining. She’s our favorite shopper-in-crime and has immaculate taste in picking out shoes. We like returning the favor by splurging on a shopping spree just for her. A great destination for high-fashion clothes for the little one is, hands down, The Garage Boutique.
One of the few boutiques in the Valley that offers designer kid duds and a mix of high fashion with rock n’ roll flair; it’s also a place where you can rest easy knowing that your little hellion is welcome. The Garage Boutique sweetens the deal by hosting a candy and cupcake bar and a VIP room just for kids. Watch out for that sugar crash afterward!

Jamaican Me Crazy
Because we're gluttons for punishment, this past month has been all about things that make us sweat (besides this ungodly weather): David Bowie's tight pants in Labyrinth; our gorilla getting on stage at a local bar and doing the dirty hokey-pokey; getting our toenails done for the first time this year and having the catty pedicurist shriek at us about the condition of our cuticles; and our new favorite Szechuan Barbecue chips that roast holes in our mouth.
To add to the list, our sadistic cubie-mate dragged us to The Bread Fruit for some super-spicy Jamaican cuisine. Our delicate mouth, which has been raised on milquetoast and rice, protested, but we were fed some curried chicken and dumplings and immediately changed our tune.
While the spices were sweat-inducing for us, cubie-mate insisted that they gently bring on the heat! And true, the chicken was tender, flavorful and deliciously caliente. It's nice to see that downtown Phoenix is finally getting some wonderful ethnic flavors to add to the mix.

Moss Appeal
Recently we squeezed a 2,000-square-foot houseful of stuff into an 800-square-foot historic bungalow. We’re stoked to be downsizing for the greater good of green, however, it sort of feels like trying to fit into those spendy jeans from last fall (the pair that won’t fit without some serious booty-shaking); but man, does it look good once they’re on!
This downsizing business is rough, so it’s a relief to know that there is a sanctuary in our city like Moss Wellness Spa that allows us to stick to our green-theme when the stress of moving finally does us in. This brand new spa, located on the Scottsdale Waterfront, is LEED certified, which is eco-speak for environmentally friendly building design.
Employing a variety of earth-friendly practices, Moss allows you to not only maintain your sense of well being, but the planet’s as well. It turns out this little slice of paradise proves that it is easy being green, which will be our mantra when we're ready to drive our moving truck off a cliff!

Something About Mary
In our secret life, we’ve traveled to Milan and Paris, even Australia, in search of the next breakthrough shoe designer. We recently uncovered up-and-coming Mary Kyri whose shoes are in the same rank as Stella McCartney, Versace and Chloe.
Our tootsies will look nouveau riche in Mary’s shoes, which are worn by celebs like Kylie Minogue and Cate Blanchett. Insider secret: her shoes are now available stateside, so get yours pronto and be the first on the block to rock a pair of Mary Kyri’s.

Home on the Range
We lurve decorating our brand new apartment, far away from our mother's cloying "Little House on the Prairie" theme. While shopping around, we found Joom on Etsy. Her slightly vintage, bird-themed prints and pillows added not only color and pop to the room, but also add a sweet, feminine touch to counteract the gorilla's heavy metal guitars.
Plus, it’s guilt-free shopping when you decorate the casa with goodies handcrafted by independent artists!

BTW, we are kicking ourselves for forgetting to tell you about a visit by the reclusive Crispin Glover. It’s so rare that Phoenix gets a celeb spotting of this caliber, so in honor of our forgetfulness, enjoy a sneak peek at Crispin’s new project here! |
