We just realized we have one of those rare relationships with our mother where we can talk about sex openly (albeit certain barriers don't get crossed like what happens behind closed bedroom doors). Sunday brunch with Mom always ends on the topic and instead of red faced, "OMG Mom, you're embarrassing me!" we spend hours talking about dating, motherhood, menopause and other exciting woman topics. We love it when she once told us about her wild days: "He laid there like a dead fish and I had to show him everything!" This is why we love her. She reminds us that getting older doesn't mean evolving into a frigid, tight-bunned old lady; instead, a good sense of humor will keep us forever young. Now if only she would tell us her secret for still not having a wrinkle on her face! So we're hoping this early reminder will get you in the spirit of doing something divine and wonderful for the woman who carried you those nine months, sacrificed sleep when you were teething, bought you The Babysitters Club series instead of shoes for herself, and paced back and forth as you went on your first date. And don't forget to send those grandmothers, aunties, mothers-in-law and the coug-in-training your father just remarried a warm salute too! Good karma never hurts, and you never know—this could be your year for joining the baby vomit and diaper club! |
